Remember a while back when I couldn’t find MY gingerbread recipe? And I made some that just were terrible? I hunted and hunted… then…DUH! I found it. Right here:
This ia ANOTHER thing I am always working on… It’s my cookbook~ a binder I keep with handwritten recipies and photos of all my dishes. Even if it never gets published, I know my girls will cherish it…one day.
you can use either dark brown or light brown sugar for these~dark brown yeilds a chewier cookie. This day, I used light.
mmm… I love mosasses. Makes me want biscuits….
Such a nice pile of brown… probally the best pile of brown on earth!
I tend to stick with the traditional shape… even though I have a massive collection of cutters… odd.
For the recipe:
1/2 c butter (or you can use 1/4c shortening, 1/4c butter)
1/2c light or dark brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c molasses
2 1/2 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbs ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
Mix the 1st 4 ingredients. Shift the flour and spices together, and add to the 1st mixture. Chill 30 min. Roll out 1/8 ” thick (1/4″ for chewier cookies and bake at 375 for 7-9 minutes. Enjoy! Love, MK
