First of all, I know I need to announce a winner. You guys have probably been on the edge of your seats, huh? I had one of those surprise-busy days yesterday; but I was happy about it since I was honored to be a friend that can- and will be there. 🙂
Anyway… here in the states we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, sometimes it’s pretty controversial when you look at the history of it- and some downright horrible things that happened to the native people here; but I choose to take the simplistic veiw of the holiday: to give thanks and feast.
Cranberries always show up this time of year as well. Cranberries amaze me. You wouldn’t dare pop a raw one in your mouth, but- cooked up they become tart little morsels of flavor. Oh yeah! Anyway, today is a good day to give you some ideas for all things cranberry.
Speaking of cranberries and Thanksgiving- black Friday is coming up but, this year I think I will call it Black Thriday, since certain retailers are starting their sales Thursday night. Hmmm,
There is a bright side to that, however: I used to only have from 4am-6am to shop on black Friday. (I had to be home in time for hubby to leave for work) NOW, I can shop all night long. ( insert Lionel Ritchie song) of course, this means that by the time I return home I will have been up 24hours straight- but hey coffee can work wonders… right?
I decided that this year, I may bring my little camera and get some pics. Maybe. We’ll see. Would you like that? I need feedback.
By the way, I get dressed to shop. You’d be amazed how many women I saw in their robes at 4am last year.
If you’re going to the trouble of putting on socks and shoes, may an effort to put a t-shirt on, people. Back to cranberries:
mmm, cranberry bars.
I had to dig through some files to find my cranberry bread and my sugared cranberries…so, forgive the crappy photos.
Check out this old pic!!! How have I not re-done this recipe?! I thing I broke all the food-photo rules on this one. This baby totally needs a makeover. Not the recipe, but the photo.
And, if you bought a bag of cranberries and fogot to make that homemade sauce, whip up a batch of these:
cranberry oat bars
