whole wheat hot cross buns

I know, I really should have posted this before Easter. But, now I’m on time for next Easter, right? And, you can still make these & just call em’ breakfast buns.

If you follow this site much, you’re aware that my kid was sick last week, so I spent my days psycho-cleaning and doing laundry, with anticipation that I’d be the next one to catch it. I’m one of those people that like to clean the house before I leave it, in case I get killed in a car crash. That way, nobody will have to do dishes I left.  I’m a bit morbid sometimes. So, anyway… I was preparing the house for my upcoming potential flu. Which I didn’t get. So, now I’m a little behind on posts. Actually, I have several awaiting publishing… but,  they’re junk-foody. I wasn’t in the mood to post junk food.

Let’s get some whole wheat going…

Can I confess something? I used my bread machine’s dough cycle. If you don’t have a bread machine… they are awesome just for the dough cycle. So go get one. On the other hand… people that don’t have bread machines and still make bread have really awesome arms. Hmmm.

Making bread is a great arm workout. So is pottery class.

A girlfriend of mine has her own potters wheel and kiln. How freakin’ cool. She sells her stuff on Etsy… let me see if I can link that….PunkinPatch
There. It worked. I’m waiting on her casserole dishes to come out. Then, I hoping she’ll send me one. Because I’m a casserole dish addict.

Back to buns:

I used cranberries and currants. I was out of raisins and I keep forgetting to buy them. Do you have things like that? They can be on your list and all… but I don’t know, you just always forget.

Don’t you love before and after shots?

Especially baked goods. Ovens are magic. For instance, a raw chicken. Not so appetizing. Stick it in a hot oven an hour and ooo yum girlfriend.  Too bad the fridge doesn’t do the same. Sometimes, I stick stuff in the fridge and, ewww yuck girlfriend.

Anyway… I need to clean my windows. I did four today. But I really need to clean the floor-to-ceiling jalousie windows in the Florida room. Ugh.

I’ll have to post about that. Or, at the very least instagram it.

Back to the recipe. I’m very scatter-brained today. I need to make a list. That always helps. I figure if it’s on my list, I can quit thinking about it. Then, I’m more focused on the here-and-now. Then I get the fun of crossing stuff off my list. C’om on… you know that’s fun. Ahhh… no Ipad can replace the fun of crossing something out on paper…. at least to me.
