jalapeno and cheddar stuffed burgers with caramelized onions

That my friends is quite possibly, my longest tile yet.

I tried something new with these, though… I read in Cooks Illustrated to make an indentation in the center of each patty before cooking, to reduce the “shrinking and swelling”.  That totally sounded like an oxymoron, but it makes sense in burger talk.

Burger talk. That sounds like it should come on NPR after car talk. The burger slut could host it. The burger slut is actually a dude. He’s one of those peeps I “met” online, a fellow foodie and he is a big time burger slut. I mean that in the nicest posible way.  because y’all know. I’m not mean… 🙂

It kept it’s shape pretty darn good. Like my buns? Thought so. They’re homemade. And easy. Hey, I could totally respell all of that and it would be inappropriate. Just saying…

Here’s the bun recipe: BUNS

There also is caramelized onions up there: secret to those – low and slow. Low heat and a good hour. Add some salt to help em sweat and a bit of sugar to bring out the sweet.

Now, I my husband chopped up some jalapenos and I added them to the meat, along with 1/4 c fresh bread crumbs an egg and the following: garlic, onion, salt, pepper, parsley. It like a meat-loaf burger. Heck, I guess this could be a recipe.

then, I added a nice handful of shredded cheese in the middle. It’s not rocket science.

I wonder… do rocket scientists use that quote with each other?

Or do they just say, “It’s not home economics, Bob.”

Not that rocket scientists don’t make good homemakers. They just have rocket things to do, you know?

Form your patty up and make a nice indentation in the center of it. So it looks like a doughnut that didn’t quite make the cut. I know, I should have snapped a pic of that part. I was sick of going back and forth to the sink, though. Raw meat and cameras… ewww.

Speaking of cameras! Check this out:

How goofy am I!?! Very.

There’s me and my Ikea cookbook.

I am going to have some rockin’ Swede food for y’all.

Hey,maybe I will do a video post and work out my “Swedish chef from Sesame Street” accent?

Oh yes that will be hot.

Not really.

But I bet you’d laugh.

Me too.
