I have had this recipe for years, and in my opinion, it is the yummiest! It may take a few extra steps, but… those boxed mixes are sooo….boxy. EW!
In a sauce pan melt 1/2 stick of butter, add 1/2 c flour to make a paste. Add salt, pepper and 1/2 tsp mustard powder, now add 1c half and half (cream) and 1 and half cups milk- stir over med-high heat until mixture thickens and boils. Add in 2 and half cups shredded Mexican style cheese. Mix in 8oz cooked macaroni. Place in a buttered casserole dish and top with PANKO bread crumbs and 1c more cheese. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. ENJOY!
*a small note: do y’all prefer the step by step photos? I haven’t done them lately- mainly b/c I get annoyed at scrolling down on other sites to how the finished product looks. I assume you guys all know what chopped onions look like, right? Anyway, I value your input, so if you like the step by steps I will gladly post them. As for now, if it is an imperative pic I will show ya it. Unless ya tell me otherwise! love, MK
