caramel apple shortbread bars
Ingredients
- 2 sticks salted softened butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 apples diced (Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 2 tbs butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbs flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 bag unwrapped caramels
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- In a bowl, combine the butter, powdered sugar, flour and vanilla to form a dough.
- Press into an ungreased 9×13 pan
- Bake for 17-22 minutes
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan over mediumm heat, melt the butter, add the flour and stir to combine, add the apples, cinnamon, caramel and salt and cook until apples are tender an caramels are melted.
- Spread apples over crust and place int refrigerator to set.
- Once set, slice into bars and serve.
