strawberries,sushi and seaweed…

We picked more strawberries this weekend… I am in the process of making a small batch of jam- that I will be sharing with you this week. It’s a good recipe because you don’t need a flat of strawberries. Just 4 cups. Mmmm.

I love seaweed. It’s a love /hate thing – you either love it or hate it. I think I’m part mermaid. I love it. For years I have been trying to duplicate the salads you get in Japanese restaurants. I finally came pretty darn close. I’m happy about that. You want to, too? Okay- get this stuff↑ . Soak a lil bit in some cold water. It will swell up and be bright green. (yum)

I do realize that everyone doesn’t have the exotic stuff in their pantry…..but if you’re a bit like me…you just might.

my seaweed salad recipe:

hydrated wakame

1 tbs mirin

2 tbs rice vinegar

3 tbs soy sauce

dash toasted sesame oil

dash sesame seeds

1 scallion, sliced

mix together. Eat. Enjoy. Be a mermaid. Or a merman.

My hubby caught a nice tuna, too. (If ya “like” me on facebook, you knew that.)

Here’s what I did with that baby:

I had it for breakfast. and lunch. and snack. It’s all gone now. 🙁

I also made something with chocolate.

And homemade jalapeno poppers.

Those will be coming up this week. 🙂 Yay and yum.

Oh! I got some eyes, too. Went with contacts. (I have a 2 1/2 year old….) Much easier to take pics, now….so I probably will start posting a lot more. But- don’t worry, I will keep it fun.
