Fresh strawberry pie

Ingredients
- 1 pre baked pastry pie shell
- 2 qt fresh strawberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup cornstarch dissolved in a small amount of water
Instructions
- Slice the strawberries and arrange part on the bottom of a prefaced pie crustChop the remaining berries and place in a saucepan with the sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture comes to a boilAdd the cornstarch slurry and vanilla, salt reduce heat and cook until mixture thickensPour over strawberries Chill 2-4 hours Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
