Today…. Is day two of #summerdessertweek!
And, today I have one of the prettiest candies out there. They are like the gemstone of sweets: shimmery, shiny crystals of pure sugar. And, when you’re a homeschool mom like myself- they are the perfect way to incorporate some science into life. (shhhh…. it’s undercover school in summer)
The best part about these candies is that they also serve an adult purpose: sweetening your drinks. And, if you’re clever- you’ll add flavoring to compliment your drink… mint sweet tea, anyone?

These are sooooo easy to make. And, chances are you have everything you need. I started with some good sugar, and- I found the wooden skewers at Sweets and Treats (although you can use string, also)

Oh, and a few glass jars and clothespins:

The only additional “thing” you need is patience… because- well… it takes time to grow sugar crystals. A few… to several weeks- depending on humidity and if the jars get… (a-hem) knocked over by accident.
