homemade fondant- without marshmallows

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, over medium low heat, dissolve the gelatin in the water.
  2. Once dissolved, remove from heat, and stir in the corn syrup and glycerine.
  3. Shift the sugar into a large bowl (don't skip this step!)
  4. Make a well in the sugar and pour the liquid mixture into the center.
  5. Stir well, (it will be messy at first)
  6. Once a dough begins to take shape, work the shortening in with your hands until a smooth fondant is achieved. Work in flavorings.
  7. Store wrapped tightly in plastic wrap in an air tight container.
  8. Makes enough to cover one 9"x3" round cake.
