Soft, and just sweet enough with no preservatives or dyes

In a bowl, or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, blend the butter, sugar salt and vanilla until creamy.
Add the egg mix well
Add the flour, one cup at a time until a dough is formed
Roll into log, Wrap in plastic wrap and chill 30 min
Slice 1/3" thick and bake in a preheated 350 oven for 12-14 minutes
For the frosting:
Mix butter, sugar salt and vanilla with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy.
Spread over cooled cookies. Top with sprinkles if desired.
